Apple’s latest upgrade iOS 4.3 became available on its developer site earlier today, and after a few hours to check it out, speculation is rising about whether this is the OS that the iPad 2.0 will be running when it comes out.
The more time developers and Apple geeks spend poking around the beta version of iOS 4.3, the more features become apparent—and the more certain questions are raised. Since it’s set for release in March, this is almost certainly the OS that the iPad 2.0 will be running when it debuts in April.
So are some of the new features designed expressly for the next gen iPad rather than the existing one? Take the new gestures, like 4 & 5 finger swiping and a pinch to return to the home screen, swipe up to reveal multitasking tray and swipe left/right to switch apps. These will replace button clicks and make maneuvering the iPad a much faster, smoother experience.
Other new additions are a configurable slide switch for iPad that allows users to choose whether to have the hardware switch above the volume rocker on the iPad control mute or rotation lock, and iAd full screen banners.
