That beta version of iOS 4.3 just keeps revealing more delicious surprises, like yesterday’s proof that the iPad 2 will have a front-facing camera. Now we have an image from the upgrade that may give us a peek at the date Apple will be making the big announcement about the next gen iPad.
We’ve heard previous rumors that Apple will be making the official announcement about the next iPad on February 9, and this thumbnail image may confirm that date. The image on the right was found inside the second beta version of iOS 4.3, released to developers this week. This promotional image of a calendar icon gives the supposed launch date as Wednesday, February 9. The image on the left is that for the original iPad that Apple officially revealed to the public on Wednesday, January 27, 2010.
So is Apple teasing us? Possibly, but this has happened before. According to 9to5mac, a promo image for the iPhone 4 showed a calendar date of a Monday the 7th—prior to the device being officially announced on Monday, June 7, 2010. A similar case occurred with an image of the iPhone 3G, which left a clue that the phone would later launch on Monday, June 9, 2008. So maybe there’s something to this image.
